Ranisha Mirando, the wife of Sri Lankan spinner PrabadhJayasuriya’s wife was not in Colombo on Friday and Saturday, i.e. during the first two days of the recently concluded Test match against Afghanistan.
However, the 32-year-old slow left-arm orthodox bowler sent an SOS to his wife to be in Colombo and occupy her seat at the SSC ground well before the commencement of each day’s play and what a performance by the spinner.
“I was out of Colombo for a personal reason and came only on the last two days. He was very happy to see me there witnessing his performance and I think he deserves the MOM award for his brilliant performance”, Ranisha, speaking exclusively over her mobile from Colombo, said on Monday night.
In his 47 overs he bowled in Afghanistan second innings, PrabadhJayasuriya took 5 wickets, which enabled his team to win the solitary Test by 10 wickets.
The bowler has now 7 five wicket hauls in his just 10 Tests. This is his first time outside Galle. He is also the quickest spinner to grab 50 Test wickets.
“I am so happy for him getting his 7th five wicket haul especially outside galle. It is a very special moment for us and he proved that spinners are not limited to Galle”, she added further.
“For now he is not included in T20 and ODI squads. But I am eagerly looking forward to it”, the wife signed off.
