Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi, accused the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) of resorting to water supply threats to coerce electoral support. Addressing a public convention in New Karachi, Rehman challenged the PPP’s proclaimed “new thought” and demanded an explanation for the connection between the political dynasty and this supposed new approach.

He criticized the PPP, branding it as a synonym for corruption in Sindh, highlighting alleged failures in education under their governance. Rehman presented the JI’s vision, promising health cards, a free IT university, and improved transportation for Karachiites if the party comes to power.

The JI leader also highlighted that the mega city has also a significance when it comes to politics. He elaborated that Karachi constitute 22 seats of the National Assembly, 47 of the Sindh Assembly whereas the total number reached to 96 after including the reserved and senate seats. It is a very strong number and can play a vital role for the future of Karachi, he said, urging Karachiites not to divide their vote.

He quoted surveys while highlighting that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan has lost it total popularity, the PPP has already lost its popularity, whereas the PTI has been kicked out of the race.
