Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has hinted at establishing a new Charter of Democracy among all political parties, with a focus on creating a constitutional court and a Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The party has vowed to continue efforts until consensus is reached on these reforms. This announcement was made during the celebration of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s 36th birthday at the Arts Council in Karachi, organized by the People’s Paramedical staff. Addressing the event, PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro emphasized Bilawal Bhutto’s pivotal role in fostering agreement among political parties for constitutional amendments. He highlighted that the Charter of Democracy should be implemented across all political factions, particularly focusing on the unfulfilled points that were part of Benazir Bhutto’s vision. Khuhro stressed that the establishment of a constitutional court and a Truth and Reconciliation Commission are essential steps that PPP is working to realize through political dialogue. Khuhro also pointed out that numerous public cases are pending in the Supreme Court, and the constitutional court would help alleviate the burden.

He reaffirmed that PPP will continue its efforts to build consensus on the proposed constitutional amendments. Highlighting Bilawal Bhutto’s growing influence, Khuhro said, “Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is emerging as a prominent political leader and is actively working to address the challenges facing the provinces and the country.”

He also reiterated PPP’s strong stance on water resources, stating, “No one will be allowed to plunder the nation’s water supplies.” Additionally, Khuhro mentioned that a resolution was passed in the assembly, at Bilawal’s directive, against the removal of the Mohenjo Daro image from currency notes. PPP General Secretary Waqar Mehdi also praised Bilawal Bhutto’s leadership, stating that his political wisdom has been acknowledged in a short span of time. “Whenever Bilawal sits at the negotiation table, he succeeds,” Mehdi remarked, highlighting Bilawal’s role in removing Pakistan from the FATF grey list. Mehdi credited Bilawal for overseeing the construction of 210,000 homes for flood victims in Sindh. Mehdi stressed the importance of leadership emerging from the people, adding that past leaders were imposed, leading to disastrous consequences for the country.

He expressed confidence that PPP would achieve nationwide success in the upcoming elections and that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would become the next Prime Minister. PPP Karachi Division President and Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani echoed these sentiments, stating, “There is no other young leader in any political party who understands the country’s problems like Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He speaks openly on critical issues.”
