PPP MPA warns against water situation in Thatta

MPA Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Inter-Provincial Affairs, has said that under the direction of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, steps should be taken to provide drinking water to the people of Thatta district from Keenjhar Lake the project is expected would be started. He said water issue of Thatta is old it should be resolved on a permanent basis as soon as possible.

He directed the officials of Irrigation and Public Health Department to ensure distribution and supply of water to the people without any discrimination as to alleviate the unrest among the people. He expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting convened by the people of Thatta district on the issue of water scarcity in connection with a sit-in that held yesterday.

Former MPA Syed Amir Haider Shah Shirazi, Deputy Commissioner Ghazanfar Ali Qadri, ADC One Riaz Hussain Leghari, Superintendent Engineer Irrigation, XEN Irrigation Kalri Baghiar, Mirpur Sakro Division, XEN Public Health, Assistant Commissioners, Mukhtiarkar, Police, Rangers and officers of other relevant departments, local settlers, political and social leaders, distinguished citizens, journalists and a large number of civil society representatives attended 5his meeting.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Ghazanfar Ali Qadri directed the Irrigation Department and Public Health Officers to set up emergency control rooms in their respective offices to make the water supply clean and transparent. In order to ensure the supply of water to the people through machinery and tractors in all cases. He said that no injustice will be done to anyone in the supply of water. Will review the distribution and supply of which they will supervise themselves.

The Deputy Commissioner said that there should be no negligence in the distribution and supply of water and the supply of water to the people should be ensured on the basis of equality and non-discrimination.
