PPP Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Syed Riaz Husain Shah Sheerazi of PS-75 Thatta has launched a scathing critique against the encroachment of lands near the superhighway in Thatta, orchestrated by influential individuals in collusion with local revenue authorities and brokers.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Thatta Press Club, Mr. Sheerazi condemned the illicit land grabs, which he claims have deprived locals of approximately 25,000 acres of ancestral lands, graveyards, villages, and grazing pastures. He emphasized that these actions have severely impacted the livelihoods and rights of the affected communities.
Mr. Sheerazi expressed disappointment at the lack of action taken during the previous five-year tenure, despite his repeated appeals to the Chief Minister of Sindh. He stressed the urgency of the situation and called for swift measures to hold all involved parties accountable for their actions.
Highlighting the resolution passed by the Sindh Assembly to regularize around 800 villages in the area, Mr. Sheerazi underscored the immediate need for intervention to prevent further encroachment and protect the rights of the local population.
Directly addressing the Chief Minister, Mr. Sheerazi urged for decisive action to dismantle the entrenched influence of the land mafia and ensure justice for the affected communities. He appealed for swift and effective measures to combat these nefarious activities and safeguard the lands and livelihoods of the people of Thatta.
