While the Mutahidda Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), an ally of the Shehbaz Sharif-led coalition government, has threatened to sit on the opposition benches over delimitations issue in the 2nd phase Sindh Local Bodies polls, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chapter of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is also feeling dejected and “ignored over the attitude” of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government in the center of which the PPP is the senior ally. Sources told Pakistan observer.
“We are unhappy with the Pakistan Democratic Movement-led federal government that is not taking the PPP KP leadership into confidence while making important appointments”. A senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter said requesting anonymity.
He referred to the appointment of the managing director Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) whose appointment is made by the center.
According to sources the PPP local leadership has complained that they were not taken into confidence over the appointment of the MD PESCO and other appointments and alleged that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was ‘neglecting’ Pakistan People’s Party in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On the contrary, they blamed, the Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif led Federal government was compensating Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal and Awami National Party in the province. “Pakistan Muslim League led PDM government in the center was interested mostly in appeasing Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman and makes major decisions about KP with his consent”. A PPP provincial leader told this scribe. He also sighted the appointment of a JUI leader and former Mayor Peshawar Haji Ghulam Ali as the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sources said PPP KP chapter was also weighing options including protest against the federal Govt.
