Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and a delegation from JUI-F, led by Provincial President Maulana Abdul Qayoom Halejvi and Secretary General Allama Rashid Soomro, have agreed to work together to address Sindh’s critical issues, including water scarcity and regional security concerns. During their meeting at CM House, the leaders expressed mutual appreciation for their parties’ support in passing the 26th Amendment, with Shah crediting “the political wisdom of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazal Rehman.” In attendance were Minister of Planning and Development Nasir Shah and Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar. Both sides acknowledged Sindh’s acute water shortage and stressed that constructing new canals from the River Indus would strain the province’s limited resources. The JUI-F leaders invited CM Shah and PPP members to a forthcoming multi-party conference on water scarcity, aiming to explore solutions for the province’s water challenges. Shah accepted, emphasizing his administration’s opposition to further canal projects and noting that requests have been made to the federal government for a reassessment. “We are presenting our case at all relevant forums,” Shah said, urging federal consideration of Sindh’s water issues. Security concerns, particularly in the Kutcha areas of Sukkur and Larkana, where an anti-dacoit operation is underway, were also discussed. Shah directed Home Minister Lanjar to intensify efforts, seek local political and community support, and strengthen defenses against criminal groups. In a shared commitment to Sindh’s welfare, PPP and JUI-F leaders pledged to foster community initiatives and enhance unity, focusing on the well-being and safety of the province’s residents.
