Senator Waqar Mehdi, the General Secretary of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh chapter, expressed strong confidence that the people of Sindh, particularly in Karachi, will support the PPP in the upcoming local body by-elections scheduled for November 14. He asserted that the PPP is genuinely dedicated to addressing the issues facing the populace and providing sustainable solutions. Senator Mehdi made these remarks while presiding over an important meeting aimed at strategizing for the by-elections. The meeting saw participation from district presidents, general secretaries, and candidates for local body positions within the PPP Karachi Division. During the session, district presidents updated the attendees on their preparations for the elections, including the nominations for UC Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and Ward Councilors. A decision was made to establish election cells in every UC and ward across the Karachi Division, coupled with an extensive door-to-door campaign. Additionally, public gatherings will be organized in each UC, where PPP leaders will engage directly with the community. Emphasizing the PPP’s leadership, Waqar Mehdi stated that the longstanding issues facing Karachi can only be effectively resolved under the party’s governance. He criticized opposition parties for their lack of interest in tackling the city’s challenges and highlighted that the provincial government is currently executing development projects worth over 200 billion rupees in Karachi, in tandem with initiatives from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to enhance urban infrastructure. Senator Mehdi praised Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as a visionary leader and the authentic voice of the people. He reaffirmed Karachi’s unwavering loyalty to the legacy of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The meeting was attended by several prominent figures, including Javed Nagori, Raja Abdul Razaq, Sardar Khan, Iqbal Sand, Abid Satti, Jani Memon, Habib Jadoon, Taimoor Siyal, Imdad Jokhio, Shehzad Majeed, Riaz Baloch, Jamil Zia, Sharjeel Rizwani, and other nominated candidates from the PPP.
