Highlighting the pressing need to address the challenge posed by the burgeoning population, District Population Welfare Officer Naushir Rawan Khattak emphasized the imperative of population control measures to rectify the imbalance between population growth and available resources. His remarks came during a one-day seminar themed “Balance of Population and Resources,” jointly organized with UNFPA at the Mardan Press Club on Thursday.
The seminar, aimed at raising awareness among the youth, witnessed participation from various stakeholders including President of the Press Club, M. Bashir Adil, Deputy District Officer Khalid Usman, Tehsil Officer Takhtbhai Shahid Ali, demographer Imtiaz Khan, and other notable figures.
Addressing the audience, Khattak underscored the significance of educating the youth on family planning before marriage, enabling them to make informed decisions considering their resources. He also highlighted the extensive efforts undertaken by the department, with over 30 welfare centers dedicated to promoting the health and development of mothers and children.
M. Bashir Adil, the chief guest, echoed Khattak’s sentiments, stressing that Pakistan, as a developing nation, grapples with numerous challenges, including economic and energy crises.
