Urgent political reconciliation is necessary tosave the fragile democracy of our country, as growing controversies haveposed very serious threats to the whole electoral system, said Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor here Sunday.He said that many countries have faced the experience of a hungparliament but they have not made the whole electoral systemcontroversial.
He said that the recent controversy over Rawalpindicommissioner’s claims has created immense polarization in our countrywhich is not a good omen for our weak economy.Altaf Shakoor said that the present polling system has once again failedto serve our democracy.
We really need proportionate electoral system inwhich the elite class would have a lesser role to manipulate voters. Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor said in the present system smaller political parties have no chance tofight big parties backed by the rich people but in the proportionateelectoral system they would have a better chance to reach theparliament.He urged all political parties to cut a deal in broad national interestand form a national government to solve the problems of Pakistan.
Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor said a weak parliament would not help fight the ongoing economic crisis.He said we need to break the chain of debt burden and it could only bedone with political harmony.
