After imposition of the Section 144 in Islamabad for a period of fifteen days, the law enforcing agencies including police and Pakistan Rangers are patrolling the roads in the federal capital to ensure residents comply with the district administration’s orders and stay maximum at homes.
All the restaurants and shopping malls have been ordered to close by 10 pm in the city, however, meat shops and milk shops as well as tandoors have been exempted from the prohibiti-
on.
“This restriction will not apply to Pharmacies, Dispensaries, Clinics, Grocery Stores, Karyana Stores, Bakaries, Atta Chakkies, Tandoors, Milk Shops, Auto workshop, Petrol pumps, Chicken and meat shops, Mandis and Restaurant/food outlets for delivery and takeaways,” read the notification.
According to the notification, the section has been imposed with immediate effect and will be in place for 15 days. All those found violating the directives will face legal action. Meanwhile, tally of coronavirus affected cases raised to 11 in Islamabad with addition to one on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), (Operations), Waqar-Ud-Din Syed has directed all the police stations to ensure the screening test of accused from the area hospital before sending them into lockup. The direction has been given after the Islamabad High Court ordered a day earlier release on bail of all those suspects facing minor charges.
In compliance with the court orders some 230 accused facing various charges were set free on Sunday from the Adiala Jail of Rawalpindi. After that it has been directed by the police high ups to screen all the accused in the police lockups of the federal capital and see if someone was suffering from coronavirus or not. According to a press release issued on Sunday the DIG has issued special directions in wake of Coronavirus and for the protection of police personnel as well as the accused.
Waqar-Ud-Din Syed also ordered to ensure the availability of soap, tissue papers and water at all entry points of police stations as well as offices following the directions of Inspector General of Police Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan.
He asked the police stations staff to maintain a distance of minimum six feet between the visitors and the accused besides to wear gloves while receiving applications from them.
He said hand sanitizers and tissue papers should be available in all police mobiles.
