What could be termed a significant achievement, police in Jamrud, Khyber recovered 13 kilos and 970 grams of ice from the hidden parts of a trailer late Friday night.
However, the suspects managed to flee from the spot. Police were trying to trace the smugglers with the help of passports and other documents they found in the vehicle till last reports came in.
According to reports, SHOs Nafees Khan and Maula Dad signaled driver of a trailer, coming from Afghanistan, to stop.
The driver, however, did not apply brakes immediately, and instead parked it a few yards away from the check-post where taking advantage of darkness, he and other suspects managed to flee.
Police impounded the vehicle and later registered a case against driver Muhammad Yasin and his accomplice Abdul Mutalib.
