Pakistan Muslim League-Q has decided to maintain its own position in its possible bid to establish alliance with any other political party amid discussions for potential seat adjustment ahead of the upcoming general elections.
The sources within the party claimed that the PML-Q made this decision to uphold its own stance and narrative in the elections.
“The discussions are underway regarding the possible alliance with the other political parties,” said the insiders while talking to Pakistan Observer on Monday.
The sources said that PML-Q Chief Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain emphasized upon maintaining the party’s position and stance before and during the elections. Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, they said, also urged the other parties to recognize the need for tangible actions over mere rhetoric.
“There is a need to foster reconciliation,” the sources quoted the PML-Q chief while commenting over the prevailing political situation in the country. He also stressed upon the need for tolerance in the society. “The political leaders need to play their due role for promotion of tolerance and harmony,” said Chaudhary Shujaat. The sources said that the PML-Q chief held discussions with his party leaders, especially Nadeem Pahlwan regarding possible seat adjustments in the upcoming elections. He also discussed their campaign strategy in the meeting. On other hand, the sources said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Supremo Nawaz Sharif is likely to visit Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain during this week. “Nawaz Sharif is expected to visit Chaudhary ShujaatHussain at his residence at Zahoor Elahi road,” said the sources, pointing out that this meeting was likely during the ongoing week.
The both leaders, they said, would discuss important matters including seat adjustments ahead of the elections. The PML-Q had earlier expressed desire to pave the way for potential collaboration and seat adjustments in Punjab.
On Friday, PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah hinted at possible seat adjustment with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) in a bid to pave the way for a potential collaboration before the next polls.
