PML-N has decided to take up the issue of arrest of Shehbaz Sharif in the Punjab Assembly. In this regard, the requisition was submitted to the Assembly Secretariat on Wednesday.
A four-member delegation of PML-N submitted the requisition to the Assembly Secretariat. The PML-N delegation included Samiullah Khan, Khalil Tahir Sindhu, Malik Waris Kallu and Zeeshan Rafique. The arrests are based on issues of law and order and inflation.
According to sources, the opposition has also decided to protest against the government’s retaliatory actions in the Punjab Assembly. It may be recalled that on Monday, the NAB had arrested Shahbaz Sharif in a case of disproportionate assets and money laundering after the interim bail was released from the Lahore High Court, who is now in the custody of the NAB for 14 days.
It may be recalled that according to the NAB reference, in 1990, Shehbaz Sharif had declared cash assets of Rs2.121 million which increased to Rs14.865 million by 1998. During his tenure as Chief Minister from 2008 to 2018, Shehbaz Sharif and his family acquired assets of Rs7,328 million. According to the reference, 13 new companies were set up under Sharif Group of Companies and an investment of Rs. 2770 million was made. The sources of income of these companies were unknown.
According to the reference, Shehbaz Sharif also set up three anonymous companies in which Messrs. Nisar Trading were named after Nisar Ahmed and Ali Ahmed, employees of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. These companies allegedly laundered money worth Rs2400.088 million.
