After the Pakistan People’s Party, the Pakistan Muslim League-N turned down Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s claims that former Army Chief Gen (Retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and former spymaster Gen (Retd) Faiz Hameed were behind the removal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan from the power through no-confidence motion.

“General Qamar had asked the parties to withdraw the no-trust motion against Imran Khan but Maulana Fazlur Rehman resisted the suggestion given by General Bajwa,” said Malik Ahmed Khan while addressing a press conference at PML-N Secretariat in Model Town, Lahore, on Friday.

Both PML-N and the PPP postponed the third round of talks of their coordination committees due to high political temperature after Maulana Fazl’s talks. The sources said that the session was adjourned as the PML-N leaders had to consult their top leadership regarding formation of the governments in Punjab and Center.

Earlier on Friday, PPP leader Faisal Karim Kundi also addressed a press conference in the federal capital and came down hard upon the JUI-F chief, saying that “Maulana Fazl was the main beneficiary of the no-trust motion against Imran Khan. We saw a major difference on Thursday as PTI and JUI-F held a meeting. We have to see now what the workers of both sides will do,”.

He addressed Maulana Fazl by asking, “Why was the PPP ousted from the PDM and on whose will? Maulana was not coming into politics; he was going after enjoying it,”.

Hafiz Hamdullah, the JUI-F senior leader, also reacted to the criticism of PML-N and PPP, saying that both the parties disrespected by giving extension to General retired Bajwa.

PML-N leader Malik Ahmed Khan said that General Bajwa had asked the political leaders to withdraw no-trust motion against Imran Khan—the then prime minister.

“In my presence, Maulana Fazl asked us as to why he was being stopped from filing the no-trust motion,” said Malik Ahmed Khan.
