MURREE – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and former three-time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asked the nation to compare those who served the country with those who ruined it, saying that the PML-N is behind every major project in the country.
“I have served Pakistan day and night. Every major project in Pakistan has PML-N behind it. Those who mocked the metro bus project as a ‘jungle bus embezzled billions in Peshawar. The inquiry into the Peshawar metro bus corruption has not been made public,” said Nawaz Sharif while speaking with the members of the parliamentary party in the Senate in Murree on Saturday.
He questioned, “Why was a democratic government overthrown? I read everything while in jail. Pervez Musharraf ousted the government. Pervez Musharraf is no longer in this world, so what complaints can we have now? We must call right ‘right’ and wrong ‘wrong’,”.
The PML-N president highlighted the soaring inflation and urged the nation to compare who served the country and who devastated it.
He said, “The poor in Pakistan have been made to suffer. I was distributing electricity to every home when I was ousted. Even the IMF said Pakistan might not need our help anymore,”.
Praising Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Nawaz Sharif said, “Shahid Khaqan is an excellent person. He bravely endured jail and supported me,”.
He added, “If I hadn’t been removed from power, the country would have been progressing. Shehbaz Sharif is working diligently, and I commend him for it. You blame us, but it is you who have damaged democracy. I am not someone who holds grudges or seeks revenge,”.
Nawaz Sharif criticized the IMF conditions, saying that “If IMF conditions are accepted, how these will not be difficult for the poor? I am not someone who relies on the IMF. Maryam Nawaz is reaching everywhere and has reduced the price of bread which is commendable,”.
Targeting Imran Khan, he said, “I never went to the PTI founder for help, nor did I go to Bani Gala to seek votes. When we were in jail, you removed the ACs. Now you are in jail, and I haven’t even thought about the air conditioners. You wrote letters to the IMF,”.
Nawaz Sharif further stated, “For the promotion of democracy, Benazir Bhutto and I signed the Charter of Democracy,”.
