ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Madina, beginning the first leg of his maiden foreign tour to Saudi Arabia since taking office.
Sharif, 72, arrived in Madina where Governor Prince Salman Bin Sultan Al Saud received the premier at the airport. He will offer prayers at Masjid-e-Nabwi and will travel to Mecca for pilgrimage.
PM moved to Saudi Arabia on a commercial flight and during flight, he interacted with the other travelers. People also took pictures with PM and had a chat with him.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and several federal cabinet members, including Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Abdul Aleem Khan, Attaullah Tarar, and Ahad Cheema, accompanied the prime minister on his first foreign trip since forming a coalition government.
During his visit, PM Sharif is scheduled to perform Umrah and offer prayers at Masjid-i-Nabwi. The agenda includes a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman to discuss bilateral, regional, and global matters, with both countries aiming to enhance their friendly ties and economic relations.
Earlier, reports claimed that Saudi Arabia expressed interest in acquiring government shares in Pakistan’s Reko Diq gold and copper mine.
