Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Saudi Arabia on Thursday on a three-day official visit at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The prime minister is accompanied by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
Earlier, during the Foreign Office’s weekly media briefing, spokesperson Tahir Andrabi announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz would visit Saudi Arabia from August 6 to 8. He said the premier is scheduled to hold talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss bilateral ties as well as key regional and international developments.
According to the Foreign Office, the discussions will centre on further strengthening Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations while exchanging views on issues of mutual interest at the regional and global levels.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who is already in Saudi Arabia after concluding an official visit to Jordan, will also join the Pakistani delegation.
The Foreign Office described the visit as significant for advancing regional peace, enhancing diplomatic cooperation, and promoting a coordinated approach to regional stability.
The spokesperson also reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East and encouraging the peaceful resolution of disputes.
