ISLAMABAD – Sigh of relief for industries and agriculture as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took center stage today to unveil bold initiative: “Roshan Maeeshat Electricity Package.
In bold move set to transform economic landscape, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today launched the “Roshan Maeeshat Electricity Package”, a sweeping initiative aimed at energizing the country’s industrial and agricultural sectors.
Addressing gathering of business leaders, industrial experts, and farmers at the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Shehbaz revealed that industries and farmers will now receive additional electricity at heavily subsidized rates from November 2025 to October 2028. Extra electricity will cost just Rs22.98 per unit, a dramatic reduction from the current Rs34 for industries and Rs38 for agriculture.
Stressing the unprecedented scale of relief, PM Sharif assured domestic consumers and other sectors will not shoulder the cost, underlining that this initiative is designed to fuel economic growth without affecting anyone else.
He praised Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Leghari and his team for their visionary role in crafting the package, calling it “forward-looking and commendable.”
“This initiative will propel country’s industries and agriculture onto the regional stage, attract fresh investment, and generate thousands of new jobs,” PM Shehbaz said. Reflecting on last year’s winter electricity relief, he noted that 410 gigawatt-hours of extra electricity had already powered industries, boosted exports, and created employment.
He acknowledged country’s journey from economic crisis to stability, praising dedication of economic team and the support of the business community, Pakistan is now on a firm path to progress. He further reaffirmed commitment to economic self-reliance, with teamwork and determination, and Pakistan is poised to achieve full economic sovereignty.
