ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Saudi Arabia from August 6 to 8, with Field Marshal Asim Munir accompanying him, the Foreign Office said on Thursday.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi, while addressing the weekly news briefing, said the prime minister’s visit will include a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The spokesperson said the discussions will cover Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations, shared interests, and areas of future cooperation. He described the visit as part of ongoing engagement between the two countries.
Speaking about regional developments, Andrabi said Pakistan is continuing its diplomatic role in efforts concerning the Middle East. He also praised Oman’s involvement, saying Islamabad appreciates Muscat’s role in addressing regional matters.
He also responded to Indian statements regarding the elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, calling them baseless.
He said the electoral process in Azad Jammu and Kashmir is progressing in a transparent manner and claimed that India’s criticism lacks justification.
Andrabi added that spreading what he called inaccurate information about incidents in Azad Jammu and Kashmir would not change attention from the situation in Indian-administered Kashmir.
The spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s focus on diplomatic engagement and cooperation with regional partners.
