Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday launched the Artificial Intelligence-based Prime Minister Office System (PMOS), calling it a major step towards modernising government operations through digital governance.
The platform is designed to record, communicate, monitor and track every directive issued by the PM from the moment it is issued until its implementation, verification and post-completion review.
Speaking at the launch ceremony held at the PM Office, Shehbaz Sharif instructed all ministries and government departments to begin immediate implementation of the AI-powered system, stressing that traditional paper-based procedures would be phased out in favour of fully digital workflows.
He told officials that files would no longer be carried for discussions, adding that government business would now be conducted through the new digital platform.
The PM commended Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja and the IT secretary for successfully developing and deploying the system. He urged every ministry and department to adopt PMOS, expressing confidence that it would enhance efficiency and improve public service delivery.
During the event, officials presented a detailed briefing on the platform’s features and objectives. They informed the PM that PMOS is Pakistan’s first government system to place artificial intelligence at the core of decision-making support and implementation monitoring, describing it as a landmark initiative in the federal government’s digital transformation.
According to the briefing, the platform has been developed to ensure the smooth communication of the prime minister’s directives across government institutions while enabling timely execution in line with established quality standards.
Officials said PMOS also functions as a secure, technology-driven decision-support system by combining analytics with structured information in a protected digital environment.
The briefing further highlighted that the platform would help the government continuously refine policies by making better use of technological, human and financial resources, ultimately contributing to stronger economic performance.
A key feature of PMOS is its central digital repository, which stores every directive issued by the PM along with a complete record of its implementation process. This creates a permanent institutional archive of government decisions.
PMOS incorporates artificial intelligence capable of reading, categorising and analysing directives, enabling more effective monitoring and informed decision-making rather than simply storing official records.
