A pitched battle took place between police and Jamaat-e-Islami activists who gathered at Srinagar Highway on Saturday.
A number of people of the politico-religious party gathered at the highway a day ahead of JI’s protest outside the US Embassy in Islamabad against barbaric attacks by Israel in Gaza and loss of lives. JI Emir SirajulHaq had given the protest call and urged the world to stand up and fight for the innocent people in Gaza. Police resorted to teargas shelling as some of the JI activists pelted law enforcers with stones. Some of the protesters suffered minor injuries in the clash.
