Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) is striving to make Murree more clean and green, said Director PHA, Sheikh Tariq Mehmood during a tree plantation drive in collaboration with Ufone here Sunday. He informed that a large number of saplings were planted on Murree Motorway in collaboration with Ufone. PHA and Ufone officers were also present on this occasion and took part in the plantation drive. The Director PHA said that PHA and Ufone carried out a tree plantation campaign at Khajut on Murree Expressway to help promote environmental protection and the country’s resilience against climate change. Murree is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country that receives massive footfall each year, he said adding that the afforestation drive would ensure the sustainability of the local environment and natural resources that usually come under pressure due to greater human and vehicular influx. Apart from carbon reduction, the new forest cover would also add to the region’s natural splor, he added. He said, “It is our duty to help create a world that is safely habitable for our coming generations. It is heartening to witness that Ufone stepping up to support efforts for a cleaner and greener Pakistan.” PHA has been working tirelessly for the beautification of Rawalpindi and Murree and maintenance of parks, besides widespread afforestation initiatives to help our people breathe clean air and lead hy healthy lives. Sheikh Tariq informed that like Rawalpindi city, Murree would also be made clean and green.
