The Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Energy is gearing up to host the highly anticipated “Petroleum Conference 2024” in Islamabad, set to take place at a local hotel. The conference aims to convene industry leaders, experts, and government stakeholders to address pressing challenges and discuss the latest trends and policy initiatives in Pakistan’s petroleum sector.

The event will be graced by the presence of Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, who will preside over the conference as the chief guest. Additionally, provincial chief ministers will attend, representing their respective regions. International delegates, government representatives, policymakers, regulators, and investors from the Energy & Petroleum (E&P) Sector will also participate, highlighting the event’s significance on a global scale.

Pakistan’s petroleum sector is currently grappling with a shortfall in desired levels of investment, leading to a decline in indigenous production and an upsurge in the energy import bill. With approximately 85% of oil consumption and 25% of gas being imported, primarily as LNG, the nation faces significant economic challenges, particularly in balancing its current account.

The Petroleum Conference 2024 will provide a platform for extensive net working and collaboration among professionals, researchers, and decision-makers within the industry. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with industry experts, explore potential partnerships, and remain abreast of the latest industry advancements.

Building upon the Ministry’s recent initiatives, including two focused workshops involving all petroleum exploration and production companies in Pakistan, the conference aims to facilitate meaningful interactions among stakeholders. These interactions are crucial for resolving industry issues and bolstering investment in the sector.
