Petrol Price likely t climb back to Rs379, Diesel Rs395 as Fresh Price Hike looms tonight

Petrol Price Likely T Climb Back To Rs379 Diesel Rs395 As Fresh Price Hike Looms Tonight

ISLAMABAD – Pakistanis may face higher fuel costs on Tuesday, with Petrol expected to become Rs1.50 per litre more expensive and diesel likely to rise by Rs2.25 per litre.

If implemented, the adjustment would take petrol from Rs377.71 to Rs379.21 per litre and diesel from Rs393.66 to Rs395.91 per litre. The expected increase comes amid elevated international crude oil prices and concerns over tensions in the Middle East.

Product Current price Expected increase New price
Petrol Rs377.71 Rs1.50 Rs379.21
Diesel Rs393.66 Rs2.25 Rs395.91

All prices are per litre. These figures remain projections, with final rates subject to an official government notification.

International market figures cited in the report put West Texas Intermediate crude at $101 per barrel, Brent at $115 and Murban at $118. The potential petrol increase would follow several reductions during October, interrupted by a brief rise on October 21.

Concerns about the safety of oil facilities and export routes across the Middle East have added pressure to global energy markets. Heightened military tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States have fuelled fears of a wider conflict affecting major oil-producing countries. For Pakistan, domestic fuel prices depend on several factors, including international refined petrol and diesel rates, the rupee-dollar exchange rate, taxes, petroleum levies and other pricing costs.

Persistently expensive crude can raise the cost of imported petroleum products, although the eventual impact on pump prices depends on the applicable calculations and the government’s decision.

The projected increases for today have yet to be officially announced. Any further adjustment next week also remains uncertain, and a precise forecast would be premature before the relevant pricing figures and notification are available.

The prospect of higher pump prices follows a period of mostly downward adjustments. Petrol fell from Rs393.86 on October 15 to Rs377.71 on October 23 and remained unchanged through October 26—a net reduction of Rs16.15 per litre.

Even if the anticipated Rs1.50 increase takes effect, petrol would still cost Rs14.65 less per litre than on October 15.

Concerns over a wider Middle East conflict have unsettled energy markets, particularly because of potential threats to oil installations and shipping routes. Tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States have heightened fears of disruption across a region central to global energy supplies.
