Petrol, Diesel Prices increased for September amid Crude Oil Surge

KARACHI – September is about to begin, but motorists are already facing a fresh fuel shock. Petrol and diesel prices have been raised for September as crude oil surged above $90 a barrel, adding new pressure to fuel markets amid escalating tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.

The latest adjustment will push petrol prices up by around Rs15 per litre in Pakistani currency, while diesel will become nearly Rs38 per litre more expensive. Under new September 2026 rates, Super 98 petrol will be sold at AED 3.80 per litre, equivalent to approximately Rs287. Special 95 will cost AED 3.69, or around Rs279 per litre, while E-Plus 91 has been set at AED 3.61, translating to nearly Rs273 per litre.

Fuel Type Price in AED Price in Pak Rupee
Super 98 Petrol AED 3.80 Rs287
Special 95 Petrol AED 3.69 Rs279
E-Plus 91 Petrol AED 3.61 Rs273
Diesel AED 4.30 Rs325

Diesel has seen an even steeper increase, reaching AED 4.30 per litre, equivalent to approximately Rs325 in Pakistani currency.

UAE’s fuel-price increase comes as global crude markets face another major shock following fresh military escalation between the United States and Iran. Oil prices jumped more than 2% on Monday after US forces struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz, marking the first known American strikes against Iran since late July.

The attack triggered immediate response from Tehran. Iranian media, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported that Iran targeted two US military bases in Jordan.

The escalating confrontation has intensified fears over energy supplies and shipping through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil trade.

At 0436 GMT, Brent crude futures surged $2.21, or 2.51%, to $90.31 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) climbed $1.83, or 2.19%, to $85.23 a barrel.
