PESHAWAR – Rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday evening/night, Thursday and Friday.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a shallow westerly wave prevails over Pakistan’s western and upper parts.
Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Malakand, Bajaur, Peshawar, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Karak and Waziristan on Wednesday evening/night.
On Thursday and Friday, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Peshawar and Malakand. Partly cloudy weather is expected elsewhere in the province.
Moderate to heavy rainfall may trigger landslides in vulnerable areas. Windstorms/hailstorms and lightning may damage standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles, vehicles and solar panels. Tourists and farmers are advised to remain cautious during the wet period. Temperatures are likely to drop during the wet spell.
Peshawar’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 31-33 degrees Celsius on Thursday and 30-32 C on Friday.
Meanwhile, rainfall occurred at isolated places of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours. Dry weather prevailed elsewhere in the province.
Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and Peshawar remained the hottest places in the province where the maximum temperature reached 32 C. Relative humidity in Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and Peshawar was recorded at 87 per cent, 81 per cent and 57 per cent respectively during the morning.
