PESHAWAR – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast scattered rains for Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the weekend.
As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
A shallow westerly wave is likely to affect upper parts of the country.
Under these conditions, cold and partly cloudy weather is expected in most districts and freezing in upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.
However, rain with snowfall over mountains is likely at isolated places in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Kirk, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Buner, Bajaur, Kurram, Waziristan, Kohat and Bannu.
Dense fog will likely persist in Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Peshawar, Laki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and surrounding areas during morning/night hours.
Peshawar’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 04-06 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in Peshawar and most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.
Kalam remained the coldest place in the province where mercury dropped 04 C below freezing.
In Peshawar, minimum temperature was recorded at 04 C.
Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 60 per cent.
Fog/smog prevailed in plains of the province which disturbed normal vehicular movement on inter and intra city roads.
