With the confirmed COVID-19 cases jumping to more than 19600 and death toll crossing 750 figure in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, the provincial metropolis continued to be the hotbed of the Corona as out of 24 people succumbing to the virus during the last 24 hours, 9 were reported alone from Peshawar where the District administration sealed more localities on Wednesday owing to fast spread of the disease. It may be recalled that on Tuesday too Peshawar reported ten deaths.
The Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Kazim Niaz has directed the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts to take steps to ensure strict implementation of the
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the provincial government
regarding Covid-19 and Deputy Commissioners have been informing and updating the Government on regular basis.
According to the official data 506 new cases were reported on Wednesday taking the number of those tested positive in KP to 19613. Likewise 24 deaths were reported of Corona during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 755. Of these 9 deaths were reported from Peshawar, 8 from Swat, two from Abbotabad and one each from Khyber, Mardan, Swabi, Malakand and Batagram. According to statistics 5137 people recovered from the deadly Virus while till date 111584 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the province.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in Collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has been taking steps on emergency footings to enhance the capacities of public sector hospitals to the maximum possible level in order to effectively deal with the Corona pandemic.
A high meeting held here the other day with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan in the Chair to review the progress on capacity expansion plan of public sector hospitals with regard to the prevailing Corona situation. Besides Chairman NDMA Lft.Gen. Muhammad Afzal, Director General National Command & Operation Centre, Major General Asif Goraya Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Kazim Niaz, representatives of the 111 Corps, the meeting was also attended by the Provincial Ministers and administrative secretaries.
