PESHAWAR – Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system jacked up its express route buses, raising the price from Rs20 to Rs55 from October 3.
The operator of key bus services said the fare surge aims to enhance convenience for long-haul passengers. TransPeshawar spokesperson said express routes are primarily designed for travelers on longer journeys, they have also been utilized by passengers making shorter trips, contributing to overcrowding.
The affected routes include ER-09, ER-10, ER-12, and ER-16. In September, Peshawar BRT restored the University Express service on the ER-09 route, adding more buses to accommodate the increased number of students.
For the unversed, this service is available exclusively for male passengers from Monday to Friday due to the high demand. University Express operates from Nawab Market to Gulbahar, with the first three buses departing at University of Peshawar, Abdara Road, Saddar Bazaar, Dabgari Gardens, Malik Saad Shaheed, and Gulbahar Chowk.
