Punjab Minister for Law, Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Muhammad Basharat Raja has said that effective reforms will be introduced in order to enhance the performance of Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Department for which reforms committee will be constituted soon. He said that amendments in rules will also be made where deemed necessary.
The Provincial Minister stated this while presiding over a meeting here on Monday. Chairman Akhuwat Dr. Amjad Saqib, Secretary Social Welfare Ambreen Raza, Ameen of Bait-ul-Maal Azam Malik and other concerned officers also participated in the meeting.
Basharat Raja said that on the directive of Chief Minister Punjab five Shelter Homes are operating on functional basis in Lahore while one is under construction at Taunsa. He further said that during the current year in every divisional headquarter hospital and in six big government hospitals of Lahore one shelter home each is planned to be set up.
The Provincial Minister said that Bait-ul-Maal Department can play an effective role in order to implement the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan for making Riasat-e-Madina in letter and spirit. Ehsaas Programme of Prime Minister Imran Khan is also a ray of hope for the deprived segment of people in the society, he added.
He said that by abolishing overlapping of different departments performing identical duties, utilization of resources will be improved.
Basharat Raja directed that all government and private institutions should ensure implementation on 3% fix quota for the disabled during recruitment process. He further directed that more projects should be initiated for the welfare of disabled. Steps should also be taken to grant monthly scholarships to the unemployed and deserving blind persons and recruitment policy according to fix quota should be strictly implemented, he added.
