Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera, who was dropped from the final eleven for the second ODI against Bangladesh on Sunday is all set to leave for Canada to play the Global T-20. This was revealed by the chief selector / manager Ashantha de Mel.
Speaking exclusively over telephone from Colombo on Sunday, he said, ‘the board has given him the NOC and accordingly, he will leave immediately after Wednesday’s third ODI’. In fact, Thisara wanted to play for Montreal Tigers in the Canadian league earlier but was denied permission. ‘Thisara is not in a team for the Test squad and hence his absence will not be felt during Test series against New Zealand’, the chairman added.
