Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has met with the outgoing Iranian Consul General Muhammad Baqir Beigi at Chief Minister House Peshawar. While discussing areas of bilateral cooperation, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa especially Peshawar is going to become a hub for regional trade and investment in the near future adding that the recent initiative to open Pak-Aghan border at Torkham is intended to develop trade relations of with neighboring countries along with developing the route for regional trade and commerce.
He stated that there is immense potential in the field of Hydro Power and Mines & Minerals Sectors of the Province adding that the provincial government has taken pragmatic measures for foreign investment which will not only promote bilateral trade but will also boost economies of both the neighboring countries. Mahmood Khan further stated that the provincial government recently introduced legal reforms in the field of mines & minerals which encourages foreign investment.
The Chief Minister and the outgoing Consul General of Iran in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also agreed on developing of Task Force on both sides for identifying potential areas of investment and development of trade relations.
