PCRWR publicize results of water brands monitored in last one quarter

The Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has publicized the results of water brands monitored in last one quarter i-e from July to September 2020. According to details, the Government of Pakistan through Ministry of Science and Technology has assigned the task to PCRWR for quarterly monitoring of bottled/mineral water brands and publicize the results in the best interest of public health.
During the last quarter, 125 samples of Mineral/Bottled water brands were collected from Islamabad, Quetta, Gilgit, D.G. Khan, Peshawar, Sahiwal, Multan, Faisalabad, Karachi, Bahawalpur, Tando Jam, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad and Lahore.
Comparison of test results with permissible limits of Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has revealed that 11 brands were unsafe for human consumption. Five brands (i.e. Blue Plus, Vitella, Sunlay, Aqua King and Elayn Plus) were found to be unsafe due to presence of higher levels of sodium. Two brands (i.e. Chenab and Aqua Star) were found unsafe due to presence of low level of pH.
