PCB chairman meets Babar, team management ahead of T20I series against Kiwis

RAWALPINDI – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with Pakistan’s white-ball captain Babar Azam, selector Wahab Riaz, and Head Coach Azhar Mahmood ahead of the five-match T20I series against New Zealand at home ground on Thursday (tomorrow).

Mohsin Naqvi shared the development on his official Twitter account.

In a caption accompanying a picture featuring all three, Mohsin Naqvi wrote, “Exchange of views with the national team’s representatives regarding the upcoming Pakistan-New Zealand series,”. It is notable that the series between Pakistan and New Zealand is set to commence in Rawalpindi tomorrow.

However, according to the weather forecast, rain may disrupt the matches. The latest forecast indicates a 40% chance of rain during the daytime and a 70% chance at night on Thursday.

There is also a 52% chance of rain on April 20, the day of the second T20I match. However, on April 21, when the third T20I is scheduled, there is only a 13% chance of rain.

According to the Selectors Wahab Riaz and Muhammad Yousuf, the team will be lead by Babar Azam while remaining squad is comprised of Abrar Ahmad, Azam Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmad, Imad Wasim, Abbas Afridi, Muhammad Rizwan, Muhammad Amir, Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Usama Mir, Usman Khan and Zaman Khan.

Five reserve players for the series are Haseebullah Khan, Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Wasim Junior, Sahibzada Farhan and Salman Ali Agha.

Wahab Riaz said that the squad marks the comeback of Muhammad Amir and Imad Wasim, who both reversed their retirement decision recently.

He said that the series is very important to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Muhammad Yousuf said that Usman Khan and Irfan Khan have made their place in the squad on the basis of their performance.

The five T20 matches will be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore from 18th to 27th of this month.
