The Punjab Bar Council on Saturday suspended the practicing licences of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat, both of whom are advocates by profession, for failing to apply for a suspension before assuming their respective government offices.
A notice has been issued by the council’s vice chairman to both asking them to appear before him on January 4, 2020, with a written reply on “why their matter may not be referred to the Punjab Bar Council Disciplinary Tribunal for further action in accordance with the law”.
Speaking to news channel, the vice chairman said that Buzdar and Basharat had not informed the council while joining their new offices, an act which is “against the rules of the council”.
