ISLAMABAD – The Directorate General of Passports has announced a new facility for citizens, deciding to keep passport delivery counters open every Saturday across the country to make it easier for applicants to collect their ready passports.
Under the new arrangement, citizens will be able to collect their prepared passports from designated delivery counters on Saturdays between 8am and 4pm.
The move is part of efforts by the passport authorities to improve public facilitation, reduce delays in passport collection and ensure that ready documents reach citizens in a timely manner.
According to an official announcement, the special Saturday passport delivery service will remain available for two months. The initiative is aimed at helping people who are unable to visit passport offices during regular working hours because of work, personal commitments or other reasons.
The Directorate General of Passports said the measure was introduced to provide additional convenience to citizens and ensure the timely delivery of passports that have already been prepared.
Citizens will be able to visit their relevant passport delivery counters during the designated Saturday hours and collect their documents without having to wait for the next working day.
The department has also reminded citizens to collect their passports within the prescribed period. Passports that remain unclaimed for more than six months may be disposed of in accordance with government policy.
The authorities have therefore advised applicants to check the status of their passports and collect them within the stipulated timeframe.
The Saturday service is expected to provide greater flexibility to passport applicants, particularly those who find it difficult to visit government offices during normal weekday hours.
