According to an official notification issued by the department, fares will rise by 2 percent, effective from July 4. This follows an earlier fare increase of 3% implemented on June 18.
Railway officials stated that the hike was necessary due to mounting financial pressure caused by the rising cost of diesel. They emphasized that the fare adjustment was unavoidable in light of the increasing operational expenses.
