Managing pests is a large part of the agriculture industry. Spraying crops with pesticides can leave residues on produce, which is quite toxic to human health.
Therefore PARC with Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International (CABI) signed a contract for planning and monitoring of the MRLs regulatory harmonization work in Pakistan.
Secretary Council, Mr. Roshan Zada and Deputy Director Programme Mr. Abdul Rehman, CABI signed the contracts.
This contract will enable PARC to work on chili crop to detect MRLs of selected pesticides, prioritize the high-risk pesticide in terms of increased MRLs, determine the suitable pre-harvest interval for targeted pesticide to avoid MRLs,, identify/produce potential bio- pesticide to use during extended pre-harvest interval for pest management, produce a final report presenting the results of experimental studies.
Furthermore, will also make field visits for consultation meetings with chili growers and related stakeholders.
