In line with the vision of Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan, steps are underway to promote modern policing and service delivery.
In this regard, the Punjab Traffic Police have decided to extend paperless driving licence system across the province.
DIG Punjab Traffic Police Sohail Akhtar Sukhera said that after the success of the pilot project of paperless driving license system in Rawalpindi, it is now being extended to other cities of Punjab. Paperless driving license system is being set up in Faisalabad in next phase, Mr Sukhera added.
The DIG Traffic said that citizens should enjoy all facilities of driving licence under one roof by this modern project, adding that unlike the past, the candidate will have to bring with him only national identity card issued by Nadra and will become part of the system through biometrics.
He said that in the paperless driving license system, the candidate would not have to take the file and fill it up, nor would he have to go around the shopkeepers to take pictures for attaching on the file.
Similarly, there will be no need to go to post office for driving license tickets and the candidates will be part of the fast and transparent process through Queue Matric without getting stuck in any line.
For the convenience of the citizens, the facility of payment of International Permit, National Driving License and STR fee will be provided at a single counter, DIG Traffic added.
Meanwhile, Director General Pakistan Police Sports Board and Additional IG Operations, Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan said that a new roadmap is being prepared for promotion of sports and patronage of athletes with the aim of bringing police sports back to its peak.
He said that sportsmen of police are a valuable asset of the department and they enhanced the prestige of the department at national and international level by excelling in various sports in past.
He added that coaches and managers should select new talents from the newly recruited police personnel and groom them appropriately so that new star players could emerge in sports i.e hockey, Kabaddi, athletics and javelin throwing.
Talking to the participants, Chief Sports Officer and AIG Finance Ghazi Salahuddin said that a core body style sports council is being set up to resolve the problems of the players after necessary consultation.
International and national competition medal winners, coaches and managers will be members of this council He further said that all possible facilities including necessary training, equipment, TADA would be provided to the police players so that they could perform with full attention.
