Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar will lay the foundation stone of the first project of Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority (PAPA) in Chak Jhumra, Faisalabad on Monday (today).
The project will provide clean drinking water to more than 57,000 families of 16 villages at their doorsteps. Governor Chaudhry Sarwar said that in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, clean drinking water will be provided to urban as well as rural populace of Punjab.
The Punjab Governor and Patron-in-Chief of Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority, Chaudhry Sarwar will lay the foundation stone of the clean water project to be completed at a cost of Rs161.75 million in Chak Jhumra that will provide potable water to residents of Chak Jhumra and 16 nearby villages. The inauguration ceremony will be attended by Provincial Ministers, members of Parliament, Chairman Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority and members of the Board of Governors.
Talking about the project, Governor Ch Sarwar said that Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority will provide clean drinking water to the people of the province as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. He said that every penny of the national exchequer in this authority will be spent only for the provision of clean drinking water to the public. Chaudhry Sarwar said that all the obstacles in the way of setting up filtration plants of Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority have been removed. We will try to make up for the 2 years delay in the affairs of the authority and after Chak Jhumra, the pace of projects for providing clean drinking water to the people in other cities and villages of Punjab will be further accelerated. Governor Punjab said that in order to provide clean drinking water, we will give priority to the areas where a majority is suffering from life-threatening diseases like Hepatitis due to drinking unclean water. There will be no discrepancy in the beneficiaries of Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority’s projects. We will also implement clean drinking water projects including installation of filtration plants in those areas where the opposition parties have won the general elections. Our only goal is the provision of clean drinking water to Public, he reiterated.
Meanwhile, Governor Chaudhary Sarwar acknowledged the services rendered by the administration of Lahore General Hospital, especially Principal PGMI/AMC Prof. Dr. Sardar Muhammad Al-freed Zafar, for saving the lives of the victims of the Corona epidemic and providing the best medical and treatment facilities in the LGH. Governor Punjab Ch. Muhammad Sarwar, in a ceremony, has awarded the Shield of Honor for the Principal PGMI/LGH Prof. Dr. Al-freed Zafar who specially thanked the Governor of Punjab for this encouragement. He said that he and his team along with the Government are always ready to accept any challenge regarding the health of the people and the medical community will never back down from their professional services. He assured that in all kinds of circumstances, doctors, nurses and paramedical community will not spare any effort in fulfilling the primary responsibility of serving humanity and In Sha Allah, through joint efforts, they will succeed in the second wave of Corona as well.
