RAMALLAH – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has congratulated PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif on being elected prime minister of Pakistan.

“We extend to your Excellency our sincere brotherly congratulations on your election as Prime Minister of the sisterly Islamic Republic of Pakistan. We pray to Allah the Almighty for your success in performing the lofty tasks entrusted to your Excellency, and in achieving the goals and aspirations that you and the brotherly people of Pakistan aspire to,” the president wrote in a letter sent to Mr Sharif.

He highlighted that both Pakistan and Palestine are united by solid bonds of historical brotherly relations, adding that we are proud of, and we are keen to continue strengthening them and opening new horizons.

These relations are evident in Pakistan’s positions in support of Palestinian people and their just cause throughout the years of their struggle, and in the extremely difficult and continuing circumstances to which they are exposed.

“We avail ourselves this important occasion to congratulate you on the approaching advent of the holy month of Ramadan,” President Abbas wrote.
