HAMILTON – New Zealand’s cricket captain, Kane Williamson, is facing an uncertain future in the ongoing T20 series against Pakistan after sustaining a hamstring injury during the second match.

Despite contributing 26 runs off 15 balls before retiring hurt in Sunday’s victory, Williamson’s absence is a concern for New Zealand as they lead the five-match T20 series 2-0.

The team is preparing for potential adjustments in the batting lineup, with Tim Seifert expected to replace Williamson.

Moreover, Stead hinted at broader changes by indicating that Seifert might take over wicketkeeping duties from Devon Conway during some stages of the series.

As New Zealand aims to maintain its winning momentum, the focus remains on both the immediate T20 fixtures and the upcoming Test series against South Africa.

Coach Gary Stead announced on Monday that Williamson is set to miss the upcoming third game, and the likelihood of his participation in the remaining two matches seems slim.

Stead expressed a strategic decision to prioritize Williamson’s fitness for the impending Test series against South Africa, which is less than three weeks away.
