MULTAN – Multan International Airport has set a new record by completing immigration procedures for more than 5,000 passengers in a single day, according to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The FIA director in Multan said immigration processing was completed for a total of 5,070 passengers traveling to and arriving from international destinations on Wednesday of this week.
Of the total, 2,983 passengers departed from Multan for international destinations, while 2,087 passengers arrived in the city from different countries.
The FIA said an Immigration Public Facilitation Center has also been established at the airport to assist and guide travelers. The center provided immigration-related services and guidance to 555 passengers in a single day.
FIA officials said efforts would continue to improve passenger facilities, speed up immigration procedures and provide travelers with better guidance and assistance.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s new airline, Riyadh Air, has officially started flight operations in Pakistan.
The airline’s first flight arrived at Islamabad International Airport, where it received a traditional water salute.
According to the Pakistan Airports Authority, Riyadh Air will operate seven weekly flights between Islamabad and Riyadh, providing passengers with an additional air travel option between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The launch of Riyadh Air’s Pakistan operations is also expected to further strengthen growing travel and commercial links between the two countries.
