RAWALPINDI – Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said that the establishment of the newly formed Defence Forces Headquarters marks a historic structural shift aimed at enhancing joint operational capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces.
The CDF expressed these views while addressing the services chiefs and the senior officers at the GHQ ceremony on Monday.
Field Marshal Munir said that rising and evolving security challenges require Pakistan to further strengthen multi-domain operations under an integrated tri-services framework. He added that the formation of the Defence Forces Headquarters is a vital step toward achieving this goal.
He pointed out that while each service will retain its individuality and operational preparedness, the Defence Forces Headquarters will ensure coordination and synchronisation of operations across the Army, Navy and Air Force. He emphasised that despite unified higher command, all three services will maintain internal autonomy and their organisational structures.
Issuing a strong message to India, Field Marshal Munir said New Delhi must not remain under any illusions, warning that Pakistan’s response in the event of another provocation would be even “swifter and more severe.”
Regarding regional security, he said that a clear message has been delivered to the Taliban regime that they must choose between supporting the outlawed Khawarij elements or maintaining peaceful relations with Pakistan.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace, Field Marshal Munir said Pakistan seeks harmony in the region but will never allow its sovereignty, territorial integrity or national resolve to be tested.
He added that the idea of Pakistan is “indomitable,” is protected by the unwavering faith and determination of the country’s armed forces and a united nation.
