Pakistan has earned international acclaim by winning the Best Mixed Weaving Technique Design Award at the ICFE Carpet and Floor Coverings Fair 2026 in Turkiye.
Pakistani carpet designer Sikanderain Hassan, Founder and Creative Director of “Red Inc” and “Tarkhanom Home”, received the award at the world’s most prestigious exhibitions for carpet and flooring design.
This achievement marks Hassan’s second consecutive win at ICFE, underscoring the consistent global recognition of Pakistan’s craftsmanship and design excellence in carpet making.
The winning entry, titled “Fractured Harmony,” was lauded for its innovative and layered design, which masterfully blends flat weave, sumak, and raised-and-cut pile techniques. Fully handcrafted, the carpet features hand-spun wool and jute, with select fibres intentionally left undyed in their natural state. Through striking contrasts in texture, form, and material, the piece artistically explores the tension between fragmentation and renewal.
The ICFE Design Awards bring together leading manufacturers, international buyers, and trend forecasters from across the globe. Selected award-winning designs are showcased in a dedicated Trend Area at the exhibition’s main entrance, highlighting emerging directions in global carpet design.
With back-to-back wins at ICFE, “Red Inc” and “Tarkhanom Home” have significantly strengthened Pakistan’s presence in the international contemporary design landscape, elevating Pakistani handmade carpets to a prominent position in the global design dialogue.
