Pakistani national hockey team will participate in Asian Games in China from September 10 to 25, Gwadar Pro reported on Thursday quoting Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).

PHF unveiled the schedule of the national sports calendar for the year 2022. The national hockey team is scheduled to participate in six international events in the PHF sports calendar.

The 2022 Asian Games are due to take place in Hangzhou in China. Hangzhou will be the third Chinese city to host the event, after Beijing in 1990 and Guangzhou in 2010.

The programme will be made up of 46 sports, among which 33 were featured at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, six were from Paris 2024, two were put forward by the Local Organizing Commit-tee, and a sport was from each of Asia’s five re-gions.

At the 2018 Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) General Assembly in Jakarta, officials had claimed the 2022 Asian Games will be the start of a new chapter for Hangzhou.

According to the PHF schedule, the Pakistani national hockey team will participate in the Asia Cup in May, a five-a-side hockey tournament in Switzerland in June, Commonwealth Games in Birmingham from July 28 to August 8, Asian Games in China from September 10 to 25, and a six-nation hockey tournament in Spain from December 8 to 22.

Training workshops, umpiring clinics, and courses are also scheduled in the sports activity calendar by PHF to enhance the capacity of um-pires, coaches, and technical officers.—INP
