LAHORE – Gold prices in Pakistan moved up by Rs52,600 per tola, settling at Rs272,600, in what is said to be a substantial 23.9pc increase in the price of bullion over the past year, making it a key highlight in the economic landscape.

Data shared by the Sarafa Association shows that the price of 10 grams of gold stands at 233,711 rupees, while the global gold price remains steady at 2,614 dollars per ounce.

Throughout 2024, the price of gold in Pakistan fluctuated, reaching a peak of 287,900 rupees per tola and a low of 210,800 rupees. Globally, the price of gold also saw a notable rise, increasing by 552 dollars per ounce to reach 2,614 dollars, a 26.7% increase.

The sharp annual increase of Rs52,600 is attributed to a variety of global economic factors, including inflationary pressures and changes in international markets, solidifying gold’s position as a preferred investment and store of value both in Pakistan and globally
