Pakistani death toll in Greek migrant shipwreck rises to 9

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistani death toll in Greek migrant shipwreck rose to nine after recovery of four more bodies from the sea, the sources close to the development said on Wednesday.

The death toll from the Greek shipwreck rose to 9 after recovery of four more deaths.

The sources said that the deceased were identified as Shabbir, Zain Ali and Zeeshan from Narowal while one body was identified as Owais Ali from Sialkot.

The FIA officials said that the bodies were shifted from Greek island of Giwadros to a hospital in Athens where the Pakistani embassy was making arrangements to send the bodies back to Pakistan.

It may be mentioned here that the unfortunate incident took place during the night between December 13 and 14, in which 44 Pakistanis were rescued.

The boat had met with an accident while traveling from the Libyan area of Tobruk to Greek.
