Pakistan women chased down the 150-plus target in successive matches to win the T20I home series against South Africa women.

Green shirts beat South Africa women by seven wickets with five balls to spare to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series at National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi on Sunday night.

Chasing 151 runs for victory, Pakistan women achieved the target on the first ball of the last over.

Like the previous encounter, Aliya Riaz kept her nerves to secure a series-clinching victory for her side by hitting a maximum on the first ball of the last over.

After losing the first wicket on 23 runs, player of the match Sidra Ameen (61) and Bisma Maroof (27) added valuable 68 runs for the second wicket.

Despite losing both the set batters at 103, Muneeba Ali and Aliya Riaz took the home team to victory without any further loss.

Like the previous match, Aliya Riaz scored the winning runs this time by hitting a six.

Aliya Riaz remained not out on 31 (18) and Muneeba Ali on 26 (15).

Nonkululeko Mlaba bagged two wickets and Deimi Tucker took one wicket.

Earlier, South Africa women made a competitive 150/3 after losing the toss and being asked to bat first.

Skipper Laura Wolvaardt (41) and Tazmin Brits (46) provided the team with a solid start through 74 runs opening partnership.

The good start helped South Africa women to set a competitive 151-run target for the home side, the same set in the first match.

Marizanne Kapp scored 26 and Nadine de Klerk 21 runs.

Sadia Iqbal and Nashra Sandhu took one wicket each while one South Africa batter was run out.

Pakistan women will play against South African women in the third T20I on September 4 at the same venue.
